We're always running late here at Twitarded - some perfect storm of chronic procrastination, and comboTwi/RL distractions, I suppose - so it's been hashed out elsewhere earlier this week, but the topic of Twilight etiquette was recently brought up in a bit of a rant posted by our bloggy bud Cutie over at Super Secret Twilight Blog... Apparently, she had a REALLY rough time last year when she saw Twilight in the theater at the midnight premiere. People were obnoxious and it was a buzz-kill for her. She's trying to get the word out that maybe people should try to be thoughtful of their fellow Twitards at the premiere of New Moon [in TEN-ish days - SQUEEE!!!]. And after reading her story, I am afraid. Very afraid. On a number of levels...

It occurred to me while I was reading about Cutie's anticipation of "The Big Day" last year that Jenny Jerkface and I weren't quite this...consumed with all things Twilight when the first movie came out last November. We had discovered (and devoured) the books and were absolutely dying to see the movie [you can check out our respective "Oh MAH GAHHHH I FOUND TWILIIIIGHTTT!!!" first posts HERE and HERE, if you are interested in reminiscing with us], but I am not even sure I was aware that there was a midnight showing at the time. We went to see it opening weekend, which is rare for both of us since we both generally despise packed theaters and crowds and people in general (present company excluded, natch), and the place wasn't over-run with rabid teeny-bopper fans. The size of the audience dwindled with each subsequent showing we went to... In fact, we've never been around a bunch of fans - not to mention younger fans. The Breaking Dawn book release was before our Twi-time, and when the dvd was released, JJ wasn't around to go to a release party, she was HERE with Mini-Edward (damn her!).

Soooo... Things could get interesting on 11/19... Especially since we've decided to go balls-to-the-wall and see the premier in New York City (WOOOO!!!).

A couple of scenarios are currently being featured in an anxiety-powered constant "replay" loop in my addled little brain:
Kids are everywhere. Freaking out, screaming, singing, the works! JJ and I go nuts and we're like that deleted scene where Edward attacks Bella in Biology class but it's going to be much, much uglier, and then we are escorted from the place in ball-gags and shackles...And this - possibly worse - scenario:
What if I'm not the hero sane, respectful Twilight-obsessed movie-goer??? What if I'm the bad guy screaming, freaking-out twat stain??? Gah!! Let's be honest here: this latter scenario is a possibility... I wouldn't say we we were REALLY obnoxious when we saw Twilight in Central Park over the summer, but we weren't the strong and silent types, either, that's for sure. We laughed, we "squeeee!"-ed, there was much snorteling...

I've never mixed - for better or for worse - with Twifans in person. Not en masse anyway. Should I be worried? Should other people be worried in our presence?!
